An Introduction to the Man Whose Birth Orients History
Sep 23, 2025 – May 5, 2026
I’ve been intrigued to watch several prominent podcasters and public figures recently come to faith. They started out agnostic or just disinterested in religion but were honestly curios about all kinds of subjects and found themselves interviewing a number of Christians. These guests engaged them in honest, respectful conversation and presented reasonable, compelling evidence for faith. In the process of watching these journeys to faith, I was struck by how many misconceptions people have about faith, how little most people know about Jesus and what he actually said, how compelling the evidence for our faith really is, and how ill prepared most of us are to engage in conversation with people in the world who question. This is what has inspired me to create this study.
👉🏻 This study is for unbelievers who are sincerely curious about the Christian faith, who would like to know more about the man whose birth literally orients history, what he taught and why it matters today.
👉🏻 It is also for people who already have faith but have not examined the reasons we have for believing, the evidence upon which our faith stands.
👉🏻 And it is for believers who know a lot already but would like to be better able to engage in conversation with people who question.
About Jesus: An Introduction to the Man Whose Birth Divides History
Who is Jesus of Nazareth? At the very least, he is a man who changed the world forever to such a remarkable degree that we divide history by his birth (B.C. and A.D.) He is the founder and central figure of Christianity, but he is universally acknowledged to be a wise man and a great moral teacher. Many religions acknowledge him as a great prophet. His followers call him the Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the world.
But before we can have any discussion of who Jesus is, first we need to back up and clarify some foundational questions.
—Do we actually know anything about this man as a real historical figure?
—How could anyone actually believe all the miracles that are attributed to him, let alone the outrageous claims of his virgin birth and resurrection from the dead?
—What did he actually teach and why does it even matter some 2,000 years later who he was and what he did?
The first part of our study will consider The Evidence and Rational Basis for Faith.
1. Truth, faith, and common sense
2. Why believe in God?
3. Why believe the Bible?
4. Why believe in Jesus?
5. How does Christianity answer the basic questions?
6. So What if it Is true?
With these questions addressed, we will move on to the actual teaching of Jesus. The remainder of this series will consist of an in-depth study of The Most Famous Sermon of the Greatest Teacher in the World, the Sermon on the Mount, recorded in Matthew chapters 5-7.

We believe that women need Jesus. Our lives are not about our social or financial status, our clothes, our appearance, our jobs, our homes, our righteousness or our perfection. Only Jesus saves. Only Jesus satisfies. Our purpose is to nurture women in their relationship with Jesus.

We believe that women need the Word of God. We need truth, encouragement, hope and support as we face the many challenges of life as singles, wives, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, neighbors, employers, employees, and friends. The Word of God is relevant in every stage and circumstance of our lives. It equips us to live our lives well and to minister the grace of God in a broken world. Our purpose is to study the Scripture and apply its truth and power to our lives.
We believe that women need other women. We need sisters and friends to walk with us in life. We need to share our struggles, our sorrows and our joys. We need the wisdom and counsel of older women who have been there. We need the support of Christian friends whose faith is real, who will listen, encourage, and pray for us. We need to belong, and we believe that each woman has something to contribute to our group. Our purpose is to nurture friendships among Christian women.
We believe that women need the church and the church needs women. As we minister to women and build them up in faith and friendship, we are strengthening not only individuals but also their families and the church. Our purpose is to equip and inspire women to live and minister well in their homes, in the church, and in the world.
